


About Gohan
Gohan means "cooked rice" or "mealtime" in the Japanese translation. Rice bears the responsibilty for all good sakes, as well as the foundation for sushi. We felt it was an appropriate name for this exciting new venture, as well as creating interaction and education for our customers.
All of us here at Gohan are dedicated to creating the most memorable meal for our guests by utilizing the freshest possible ingredients available, from the soy sauce on the table to the high grade fish in our sushi cases. Our organic modern dining room was designed by Chef Steve and acclaimed Japanese Architect Fumio Suda. Our goal was to invite you into a space that brings you into modern Tokyo as you would see it today.

About us
Executive Chef / Owner Steve Tam is dedicated to food and service. Having 15 years experience cooking in and managing restaurants, he decided to open his first solo venture here in beautiful Petaluma, California. "I love every aspect of the restaurant business. I have my hands and eyes in everything that happens here. Because of this passion and also being a local native, my level of commitment and quality are on a whole other level. Come and experience my offerings. It is a haven for foodies and families alike."

Yahiro has
over 30 years training in sushi-making originating from his native Tokyo.
Most recently, he owned Yahiro's in San Anselmo, California. His dedication
to the traditional values of sushi-making is unheard of in this area. His
passion for sushi-making paired with Chef Steve's makes this a well-rounded
team where our customers are the ultimate winners.
